We recommend using rye grain for first-time Lion's Mane growers. Millet works just as well, but Lion's Mane on rye looks better to the eye (that is, it appears more colonized) which can be helpful for ease of mind. Lion's Mane grain spawn is used to grow into sterilized hardwood sawdust or pellets.
