Exciting new methods and strains for outdoor Morel cultivation are on the horizon after Chinese mushroom growers found a reproducible way to grow mushrooms in beds outdoors. The method requires strains suitable for this cultivation method as well as strategic placement of nutrient bags on the beds. These 2 lb. exogenous "EXO" bags were the real breakthrough in Morel cultivation. They are filled with as sterilized nutrient source used to provide a dependable and sustained source of carbon for the Morel mycelium in the soil. The Morel accesses this extra nutrition, and that carbon boost promotes mushroom formation.
Our strain, chosen for its vigor and likelihood of successful results is Morchella importuna, the Landscape Morel. The kit includes one 5 lb. bag of Morel sawdust spawn and three 2 lb. bags of sterilized exogenous nutrient mix (EXO).
