Description
Chestnut mushrooms fruit as soon as the days are warm and nights are cool, usually in the spring and fall. 40°-65° general temperature range. If blocks are buried in spring, allow 3 weeks before seeing fruiting. Mushrooms usually appear again in late summer and often again the following spring. Harvest these as the caps begin to expand.
How to plant a chestnut block mushroom bed:
- Select a shady location for your mushroom block
- Remove your block from its plastic filter disc bag
- Place your mushroom block on the ground and cover it with wood mulch, sawdust, or even soil
- Wait for your mushroom crop!
