Oyster Mushroom Sawdust Spawn
You can grow oyster mushrooms on logs using either oyster mushroom sawdust spawn or oyster mushroom plug spawn. While oysters will grow on a variety of different wood types (see our Tree Species Chart) we recommend using softer hardwoods such as box elder, willow, poplar, or cottonwood. Sawdust or plug spawn can be used when growing oyster mushrooms on smaller diameter logs, but with logs over 8 inches in diameter we recommend using sawdust spawn with the Totem Method.
