Description
This unusual Hericium species is our personal favorite! 60-68°F preferred fruiting temp range. Available in large (5 lb) sawdust only for log inoculation.
Patience is required for growing Coral Tooth on logs, often taking two years for fruiting to begin. Fruits in spring and fall. Coral Tooth sawdust spawn can be used via the standard "drill and fill" method as used for Shiitake cultivation; however, an increasingly promising method is the "totem method," used on larger diameter rounds (especially on beech and other medium-hard/medium-soft hardwoods). One 5 lb. bag of sawdust spawn will inoculate 20 logs (4" dia. x 40" length) using the drill-and-fill method, or 6 totems (2-logs high). Instructions for both methods are included.
*Please Note: Coral Tooth mycelium is light and wispy, leading to an "uncolonized" appearance in the spawn. This is normal!
