Sawdust Spawn for Logs

Sawdust spawn consists of mycelium grown into hardwood sawdust and is the preferred spawn of many commercial growers for growing Shiitake, Oyster, Nameko, Lion's Mane, Comb Tooth, Olive Oysterling, Maitake, Chicken of the Woods, Brick Cap, Chestnut, and Turkey Tail mushrooms on logs. Drill holes using a 12mm screw tip bit with stop or 12.5mm screw tip bit with stop (or a 13.5mm if using a 13.5mm Okuda Inoculator). Make the job quicker and easier by drilling your holes with an angle grinder outfitted with our aluminum Angle Grinder Adapter or steel Deluxe Angle Grinder Adapter and screw tip bit. Inject spawn into the holes using our Palm-Style InoculatorThumb-Style Inoculator, or the sleek Okuda Inoculation Stick. If you're looking for even more speed and efficiency, the Okuda Hand Inoculator injects spawn and caps each hole with a foam plug at the pull of a trigger. A faster spawn run makes sawdust spawn more economical to use than plug spawn. Because sawdust spawn is sensitive to drying out and must be kept moist throughout the inoculation process, each inoculation site should be immediately sealed with wax (we use melted cheese wax) or a foam cap. Note: if using a cordless drill, use our 12mm soft steel hex shaft screw tip bit with stop.
